About Crosswinds

Crosswinds Church is a Christ-Centered community in Plainfield Illinois, located at the corner of Route 59 & 143rd Street. It is a place where you can discover who God is and live out your faith in uplifting and practical ways. We believe the Bible teaches that we don’t come to church but that we are the church, so we teach our members to have an impact on their families, workplaces, schools, community, and beyond. The church was started by ordinary people who God has used to do great things to show love and kindness in Plainfield, our county, our region, our state, and other countries..

Our goal is not just for you to come and visit us but for you to take what you learn about God at Crosswinds and share that with someone else to encourage them on their journey. God has a wonderful design for our lives, but life can be hard and we live in a broken world. We all need help and encouragement on our journey, so we seek to give people practical tools. These tools not only help them find peace and joy in their everyday lives, but help others to do the same. We are not perfect. The Bible says no one but Jesus is perfect, but we hope you will come and grow with us. We hope you will help us to make our lives and the lives of others better by discovering the hope that is found in Jesus Christ!

A healthy community

A people committed to serve
1 Corinthians 12:4-11 | Sun, Jan 25, 2026 | Jason Magafas

Redemption
Colossians 3:1-17 | Sun, Jan 18, 2026 | Nigel Symons

This message reminds us that Christians have died to their old selves and now have a new, hidden life in Christ, which should transform both our character and community.

Training
2 Timothy 2:2 | Sun, Jan 11, 2026 | Pastor Ken Schultz

In this message, the pastor emphasizes that the church’s mission is grounded in the Great Commandment and the Great Commission — to love God, love others, and make disciples who make disciples. He contrasts a consumer model of church with Jesus’ organic, relational model of training and reproducing disciples through teaching, tasking, and accountability.

Encouragement
Hebrews 10:24-25 | Sun, Jan 04, 2026 | Pastor Ken Schultz

This message is part of our series called All Hands on Deck. This series will walk us through the culture of Crosswinds by focusing on our seven culture points. message emphasizes that encouragement is vital to the mission of the church—it is an intentional, Spirit-led practice that builds others up, spurs them toward love and good works, and aligns the church as a unified crew on mission for Jesus

Rekindling our first love
Revelation 2:1-7 | Sun, Dec 28, 2025 | Nigel Symons

The message highlights how the church in Ephesus faithfully served Christ with hard work, doctrinal purity, and endurance, yet lost the passionate love they once had for Jesus.

Grace Incarnate
John 1:15-18 | Sun, Dec 21, 2025 | Pastor Ken Schultz

The message teaches that Jesus Christ embodies both unmerited grace and absolute truth — not as mere ideas but as the living Word who became flesh.

Flesh
John 1:11-14 | Sun, Dec 14, 2025 | Pastor Ken Schultz

The incarnation — the Word becoming flesh — reveals God’s astounding love, His willingness to dwell with humanity, and His provision of salvation through Christ’s life, death, and resurrection. Jesus’ coming in the flesh makes possible our adoption into God’s family, offering eternal life and transforming our identity and purpose in Him.

True Light
John 1:5-8 | Sun, Dec 07, 2025 | Pastor Ken Schultz

This message emphasizes that Jesus Christ is the true light of the world — not a temporary or symbolic light, but a living, eternal light that continues to shine in the darkness.

The Word was God
John 1:1-3 | Sun, Nov 30, 2025 | Pastor Ken Schultz

The sermon proclaims that “the Word” in John 1 — the Logos — is not an impersonal force but the eternal, divine, personal agent through whom all creation came into being. It asserts that Jesus (the Logos) predates creation, sustains all life, and brings light and purpose to humanity.
