What we
believe
Our beliefs
Throughout the history of the church, followers of Christ have been identified by what they believe. Crosswinds Church, our beliefs, and our governing by-laws all reflect the historic orthodox view of Christianity as found in the Apostles Creed and Nicene Creed.
What we believe about.....
The Bible
We believe that the Bible is a collection of 66 books that is absolute truth and God’s final authority. We believe both the Old and New Testaments are the inerrant, verbally inspired, and the infallible Word of God. We accept the Bible as our manual for living. Our first question when faced with a decision is,
“What does the Bible say about that?” We encourage the daily practice of Bible reading as a congregation. We hope to see people grow in their devotion to weekly Bible study and in obedience to biblical principles through our Life Groups. We know one of the principles for success in life is to memorize the Bible and meditate on it daily. The Bible is the basis for all we believe at Crosswinds, and it is sufficient to guide us for our decisions as a church body.
The Trinity
We believe that there is one true living God existing eternally in three persons but in one essence: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We believe that God the Father orders all things according to His own purpose for His own glory. We believe that God the Son is Jesus Christ who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born, without sin, of the Virgin Mary to redeem man from their sin. We believe that God the Holy Spirit is sent from God to convict of us of sin, of righteousness, and to be an indwelling guide in all truth, teacher, and source of strength for the believer. We believe that all who receive Christ as Savior are born of the Holy Spirit.
Salvation & Security
We believe that all human beings are created in the image of God with equal value as male and female. All people have sinned and have departed from God’s design for their lives. Therefore, we are all in need of salvation because we will all incur both a physical and spiritual death forever without it. Salvation happens when we turn to Jesus Christ believing in the atoning work, He did for us on the Cross, that forgave our sins, and gave us eternal life freely by His grace through our faith in His death, burial, and resurrection. We believe all who believe have been born again and are new creations, sons and daughters of God, and that salvation is a gift of God and is not of human work. Thus, from moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit permanently indwells the believer so that the believer is maintained and protected by God’s grace, power, and love in Jesus Christ, not by the work of the believer.
Autonomy, Authority & Accountability of the local church
Jesus Christ - not any person, group, or religious organization - is the recognized head of the church. At Crosswinds, we practice self-government by our leaders independent from any denominational control. We do team up with larger networks both locally, nationally, and internationally for greater impact in missions, for fellowship and to receive training. Crosswinds Church as a body and leadership determines its own strategy, structure, and style.
The resurrection and end times
We believe that Jesus rose from the dead and ascended to the right hand of the Father. We believe He intercedes for us today as High Priest and Advocate. We believe in the bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ to take His Church from the earth. We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting bliss and joy of the saved, and the everlasting conscious punishment of the lost.
Baptism
We practice baptism by immersion at Crosswinds because according to the Bible this is the way Jesus was baptized. Bible teaches that baptism is done after someone places their faith in Jesus as their Lord and Savior. As one of the important church ordinances, baptism is a prerequisite to enjoying all the privileges of joining the Crosswinds family as a member. If you have not been baptized by immersion after placing your trust in Jesus as your Savior, it would be our privilege to answer any question and help you take that step in your journey.
The Lord's Supper
We practice the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis. It is a symbolic act Jesus taught us to obey Him regularly in and through which we remember His death and anticipate Him coming again.
