About Crosswinds

Crosswinds Church is a Christ-Centered community in Plainfield Illinois, located at the corner of Route 59 & 143rd Street. It is a place where you can discover who God is and live out your faith in uplifting and practical ways. We believe the Bible teaches that we don’t come to church but that we are the church, so we teach our members to have an impact on their families, workplaces, schools, community, and beyond. The church was started by ordinary people who God has used to do great things to show love and kindness in Plainfield, our county, our region, our state, and other countries..

Our goal is not just for you to come and visit us but for you to take what you learn about God at Crosswinds and share that with someone else to encourage them on their journey. God has a wonderful design for our lives, but life can be hard and we live in a broken world. We all need help and encouragement on our journey, so we seek to give people practical tools. These tools not only help them find peace and joy in their everyday lives, but help others to do the same. We are not perfect. The Bible says no one but Jesus is perfect, but we hope you will come and grow with us. We hope you will help us to make our lives and the lives of others better by discovering the hope that is found in Jesus Christ!

Meet the Family

Distinctively God-Focused
1 Peter 1:13-2:12 | Wed, Sep 21, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

True Christian faith is not a passive faith. It is an active faith, driven by a mind that is focused on God. In this message from 1 Peter, we will see three images come into focus that will guide followers of Christ into hope.

Distinctively Saved
1 Peter 1:1-9 | Sun, Sep 11, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

Stories of rescue are all around us on a regular basis. We need reminders of rescues and saviors because the world is filled with danger, risk, and the possibility of death. In the opening words of Peter's letter to followers of Christ who were living in a world that was treating them unfairly, he reminds them that they have been rescued by God, and all that implies.

True Belief - From Desire to Dependance
2 Samuel 11:1-12:14 | Sun, Sep 04, 2016 | Pastor Ken Schultz

In Today’s message we look at the not so love story of David and Bathsheba, and learn to turn our hearts from false idols like sex to the true desire of our heart, the Lord Jesus Christ.

True Belief - From Religion to Relationship
Acts 9:1-19 | Sun, Aug 28, 2016 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Today we see God’s mercy in bringing us to repentance as we look at the testimony of the Apostle Paul and how he changed from a persecutor of Christians into a useful instrument in God’s hand. Listen to His word today and be changed through His mercy and love - even to stubborn oxen like you and me!

True Belief - Delusion to Reality
Daniel 4 | Sun, Aug 21, 2016 | Pastor Ken Schultz

We move from delusion to reality when we change our mind about who is really in charge of our lives. In this message, learn about a king who thought He was God. God had to educate him by His mercy and through a trial so he would understand who the Most High truly is. Please listen today and learn from the king's mistake so you don’t have to repeat it.

We can't feed all these people... that would only create dependency," said Jesus - never.
John 6:1-15 | Sun, Aug 14, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

It was common to see crowds surrounding Jesus as He taught them, healed them, and cared for them. But the crowds didn't always see Jesus with eyes of faith for who He really is. In this message, Pastor John explores Jesus' miraculous feeding of an enormous crowd for insights on how we can step out of the crowd by faith and learn how to depend on Jesus.

"If you love me, you will share that Facebook post," said Jesus - never.
Matthew 28:18-20 | Sun, Aug 07, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

These days, we want to know if people are the “real deal.” Likewise, you and I should be very concerned that people know that we are the “real deal” when it comes to being a follower of Jesus. In this message, Pastor John looks at what Jesus has to say about how we can demonstrate our love for Him - and His love for the world.

"I have come that you might have your best life now," said Jesus - never.
John 10 | Sat, Jul 30, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

One of the most broadly-accepted teachings in some churches today is Faith theology. But is it safe, or dangerous? In this message, Pastor John explores the history and background of the Faith movement and offers seven cautions, concerns, and objections.

"Just pray this prayer and invite me into your heart," said Jesus - never.
Luke 14:25-35 | Sat, Jul 23, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

The call of discipleship is a call to trust Jesus enough to do what He says. In this message, Pastor John looks at the three terms of discipleship that Jesus gives to anyone who would follow Him.

"As long as you're sincere, I don't think it matters what you believe," said Jesus - never.
John 14:6 | Sun, Jul 17, 2016 | Pastor John Stillman

The world depends on standards of all sorts, like calendars, clocks, and tape measures. There is one other standard that is often ignored - the standard of Jesus Christ and His words. In this message, Pastor John talks about the objections to and implications of one of the most important things Jesus ever said.
