About Crosswinds

Crosswinds Church is a Christ-Centered community in Plainfield Illinois, located at the corner of Route 59 & 143rd Street. It is a place where you can discover who God is and live out your faith in uplifting and practical ways. We believe the Bible teaches that we don’t come to church but that we are the church, so we teach our members to have an impact on their families, workplaces, schools, community, and beyond. The church was started by ordinary people who God has used to do great things to show love and kindness in Plainfield, our county, our region, our state, and other countries..

Our goal is not just for you to come and visit us but for you to take what you learn about God at Crosswinds and share that with someone else to encourage them on their journey. God has a wonderful design for our lives, but life can be hard and we live in a broken world. We all need help and encouragement on our journey, so we seek to give people practical tools. These tools not only help them find peace and joy in their everyday lives, but help others to do the same. We are not perfect. The Bible says no one but Jesus is perfect, but we hope you will come and grow with us. We hope you will help us to make our lives and the lives of others better by discovering the hope that is found in Jesus Christ!

Meet the Family

By Service or By Stinkiness
| Sun, Jan 11, 2015 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Can you give a message you do not know? Because many Christians do not regularly read the bible, they do not have a message to share with the world that needs to hear the good news. Reading the bible will make a difference in your life and the lives of those around you!

By Word or by Reason
| Sun, Jan 04, 2015 | Pastor Ken Schultz

How will you live your life in 2015? By word or by reason? Most people in this world live their lives by their own reason, but the Bible would encourage us to filter every decision through the word of God. If we do that, we will be prosperous and successful in the things we do because the Bible gives a true standard by which we can make our decisions.

By Religion or By Faith
Romans 10:1-10 | Sat, Dec 27, 2014 | Pastor Ken Schultz

In 2015 what will be your focus religion or faith? Only one can save you! It is important that we read God’s word consistently so that we remember to focus on God’s promises by faith and not our self-effort by religion. Our works can only lead to death, but trusting in Jesus' work on the cross leads to everlasting life.

For Unto You is Born a Friend
John 1:14 | Wed, Dec 24, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

2014 was another bad year for world peace. There is not peace on earth and good will among men, but there is good will towards men that God is showing through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus came to declare peace on earth towards men whom He favors by His grace.

For Unto You is Born a Savior
Luke 2:1-20 | Sun, Dec 21, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

When the angels announced the birth of Jesus, they shared the news first with a group of men who were voted, "Most likely to be not chosen." Shepherds were on the bottom rung of the social calendar, but in sharing the message of a Savior with them, God gave a perfect picture of the gospel and invites us to experience His glory.

For Unto You is Born a Prophet
Mark 1 | Sun, Dec 14, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

Nearly a million sermons are preached in America every weekend, but the most important sermon is the sermon of your life - especially when that sermon includes the story of Jesus. In this message, Pastor John looks at the opening chapter of Marks' gospel that portrays Jesus as a preacher, and how those who have been touched by His preaching, His power, and His presence soon take up the role of preacher themselves.

For Unto You is Born a King
Matthew 2:1-12 | Sun, Dec 07, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

Identity is important to us, but what if someone got your identity wrong all the time? Many people get Jesus's identity all wrong. This sermon series will help us know Jesus so we can prepare our lives to honor Him this Christmas. In this message, Pastor John shows how the authority of King Jesus sets us free to be who God intended us to be.

Thanksgiving
Psalm 50:1-23 | Sun, Nov 30, 2014 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Why are you here? To give God glory and enjoy His presence forever! We are to enter God’s presence through our praises and this should make our hearts glad. God does not need our religious sacrifices but delights in our sacrifice of praise. Be all that you were made to be and live a life of thanksgiving and thanks-living.

Contentment
1 Timothy 6:7-11 | Sat, Nov 22, 2014 | Pastor Ken Schultz

So would you like to have gain? Or great gain? Godliness with contentment will give you great gain in Christ! In seeking gain in the treasures of this world alone you will end up losing. Christian contentment is a rare jewel in the life of the believer. In today's message, we discover the secret of contentment; all of your wants can be fulfilled in the God who provides pleasures forevermore.

Gratitude
Romans 1:1-25 | Sun, Nov 16, 2014 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Some see gratitude as an attitude, but it is much deeper than that. True gratitude comes as the creature responds in love and faith to his creator who has given him life, provision, and salvation. When we realize God has saved us from wrath, through His love and mercy, by the sacrifice of His son Jesus, our hearts sing in unending praise. His love endures forever!

Follow Jesus By Giving
