About Crosswinds

Crosswinds Church is a Christ-Centered community in Plainfield Illinois, located at the corner of Route 59 & 143rd Street. It is a place where you can discover who God is and live out your faith in uplifting and practical ways. We believe the Bible teaches that we don’t come to church but that we are the church, so we teach our members to have an impact on their families, workplaces, schools, community, and beyond. The church was started by ordinary people who God has used to do great things to show love and kindness in Plainfield, our county, our region, our state, and other countries..

Our goal is not just for you to come and visit us but for you to take what you learn about God at Crosswinds and share that with someone else to encourage them on their journey. God has a wonderful design for our lives, but life can be hard and we live in a broken world. We all need help and encouragement on our journey, so we seek to give people practical tools. These tools not only help them find peace and joy in their everyday lives, but help others to do the same. We are not perfect. The Bible says no one but Jesus is perfect, but we hope you will come and grow with us. We hope you will help us to make our lives and the lives of others better by discovering the hope that is found in Jesus Christ!

In God We Trust: Faith and the American Dream
| Sat, Apr 26, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

Many Christians are living the American Dream. This is tragic! The American Dream leads us to focus on a faith that makes us feel fulfilled, caters to our comforts, or makes us the most happy. In this opening sermon from 1 Thessalonians, Pastor John looks at three foundations of Biblical faith.

From Judgement to Favor: Jesus Helps Me Live
John 12:20-50 | Sun, Apr 20, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

There have been many significant and important events in world history, but none of them is more important and pivotal than the cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ. In this Easter message, Pastor John shares the "Good News you can use."

From Darkness to Light: Jesus Helps Me See
John 12:20-50 | Sun, Apr 13, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

When you open your eyes, if you feel like you are blinded by stress, trouble, or confusion, then Jesus has some good news for you! In this sermon, Pastor John looks at how Jesus helps me see.

Doubt to Faith: Jesus helps me believe
John 12:20-50 | Sun, Apr 06, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

What each person believes is central to their identity. Some are influenced in their beliefs by what the world has to say and the opinions of men, others believe in themselves and are driven by their own power and prestige, but the better choice is to believe Jesus. In this first message leading up to Easter, Pastor John explores what Jesus has to say on the occasion of His final public teaching to show how "Jesus helps me believe."

Go Keep
Romans 12:9-21 | Sun, Mar 30, 2014 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Religion tries to change us from the outside in, but Jesus changes us from the inside out. As we receive the truth of God’s love expressed in Jesus His son, we are changed. We must keep people in the love of God as we fulfill Jesus commission to make disciples. We are kept in His love and we shepherd and keep others in that unchanging Love.

Go Immerse
Acts 2 | Sun, Mar 23, 2014 | Pastor Ken Schultz

To obey Jesus’s command, we must go make disciples not converts. To make disciples is to immerse them in the fellowship of the Trinity. In this message, Pastor Ken looks at the fellowship of the immersed church in Acts 2, which brought the fruit of repentance to the very ones that called for Jesus to be crucified.

Go Make
Matthew 28:1-20 | Sat, Mar 15, 2014 | Pastor Ken Schultz

Jesus asked us to engage the world with the gospel and the job is not finished yet. There 2.6 billion people who have not heard the simple message that Jesus died for their sins, was raised to new life again in 3 days and that faith in Him and what He did will bring them everlasting life. When we look at the empty tomb it should send us running to tell a dying world that there is hope in Jesus.

Passing It On
| Sun, Mar 09, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

Once you begin to experience the peace of God in your life, God says, "I want you to pass it on to other people." God gives everyone who has overcome a hurt, a habit, or a hang up a story to tell others about His good news. In this final message in the series, we'll see that God never wastes a hurt. He wants you to take the lessons you have learned and pass them on to others so that they can know the healing power of Jesus.

Maintaining Momentum
Matthew 26:31-75 | Sun, Mar 02, 2014 | Pastor John Stillman

Many people who start on the road to recovery and overcoming their hurts, habits, and hang ups, end up slipping, stumbling and falling. In this message, Pastor John shares four important practices to prevent the lapse from becoming a relapse then becoming a total collapse.
