About Crosswinds

Crosswinds Church is a Christ-Centered community in Plainfield Illinois, located at the corner of Route 59 & 143rd Street. It is a place where you can discover who God is and live out your faith in uplifting and practical ways. We believe the Bible teaches that we don’t come to church but that we are the church, so we teach our members to have an impact on their families, workplaces, schools, community, and beyond. The church was started by ordinary people who God has used to do great things to show love and kindness in Plainfield, our county, our region, our state, and other countries..

Our goal is not just for you to come and visit us but for you to take what you learn about God at Crosswinds and share that with someone else to encourage them on their journey. God has a wonderful design for our lives, but life can be hard and we live in a broken world. We all need help and encouragement on our journey, so we seek to give people practical tools. These tools not only help them find peace and joy in their everyday lives, but help others to do the same. We are not perfect. The Bible says no one but Jesus is perfect, but we hope you will come and grow with us. We hope you will help us to make our lives and the lives of others better by discovering the hope that is found in Jesus Christ!

Jesus Sends.
Matthew 9:35-10:42 | Mon, Nov 29, 2010 | Pastor John Stillman

As Jesus sends His disciples out on mission, we can learn some important principles to guide us in our mission as a church.

Merciful Like Jesus
Matthew 9:1-34 | Mon, Nov 22, 2010 | Pastor John Stillman

In the context of mission, we will encounter people who need mercy. Rather than judge, criticize, or mock like the Pharisees, Jesus teaches us a lesson on mercy: express mercy towards others as a means of showing obedience and faithfulness towards God.

Jesus Leads. I Follow.
Matthew 8:18-34 | Mon, Nov 15, 2010 | Pastor John Stillman

Many people are looking for a domesticated Jesus. A tame Jesus. A Jesus who will heal, and will also “heel.” In this message from Matthew, Pastor John challenges our thinking on how we often try to call Jesus to meet our needs, rather than being available to His call of missionary/military living.

Jesus Heals
Matthew 8:1-17 | Mon, Nov 08, 2010 | Pastor John Stillman

In the first specific healing miracle that Matthew records, Jesus demonstrates that He is a healer who with authority over sickness and sin. And because we have been cleansed, we can join in His mission to show the world that God is doing something.

I Got a Rock!
2 Timothy 3:16-17 | Mon, Nov 01, 2010 | Pastor Ken Schultz

In Today message 'I Got a Rock!' Pastor Ken shares what a wonderful gift it is to be able to read the bible. You don’t have to read it. You get to read it! It is a privilege given to us by men who suffered greatly like the Apostle Paul and church reformers throughout the centuries. We live in very blessed time where we can easily read the freeing life giving Word of God. You God a Rock in Jesus!

Drop Your Rock
John 8:1-11 | Mon, Oct 25, 2010 | Pastor Ken Schultz

We learn how the Pharisee fall into a trap they set for Jesus. Jesus instead traps them in their hypocrisy. He teaches us about how to drop our rocks of condemnation for those who have hurt us and forgive them as God forgives us so we can then walk in the freedom of God’s love.

A Tree and Its Fruit - The Demands of Life in the Kingdom
Matthew 7:13-29 | Mon, Oct 18, 2010 | Pastor John Stillman

In the closing words of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus has strong, direct words to say about the demands of life in His kingdom.

How to be Narrow Minded Without Being Judgmental
Matthew 7:1-12 | Mon, Oct 11, 2010 | Pastor John Stillman

3-out-of-4 unchurched people agree with the statement: "The church is fully of hypocrites who judge others for doing things they do themselves." Perhaps it's just an image problem, but Christians who take Jesus' commands seriously are often perceived as being narrow-minded and judgmental. In this message, Pastor John talks about how serious this command is, and what we can do to make sure we obey it properly.

Rich Towards God
Matthew 6:19-34 | Mon, Oct 04, 2010 | Pastor John Stillman

The recession of 2008-2009 has led many to rethink their ambitions. In this passage, Jesus gives us three commands that will help us experience richness towards God.

Follow Jesus By Giving

We believe that the bible teaches us that giving should be regular, proportional, and sacrificial! Help us to help others by giving to the work of the gospel.
