We know the saying, “Money can’t buy happiness,” but we live differently. In His teaching on worry and anxiety, Jesus shows that money and things don’t buy happiness - they buy worry.

Children may dream of growing up and being out on their own, but the reality is that we need others. We weren’t meant to live in isolation, but to live in intimate fellowship.

As children, we all have positive dreams for our future. We say, “When I grow up… fill in the blank.” We dream about careers – what kind of job we will have. We dream about what our family will be like – marriage, kids of our own. We dream about how we will make a living and how we will live. In this message, we’ll see that without the proper dreams and purpose, life will seem tiresome, unfulfilling, and uncontrollable.

There’s something that stirs in a man when he watches William Wallace, Aragorn, Maximus, “Dirty Harry” Callahan, Luke Skywalker, or Rocky Balboa do their stuff. It’s what John Eldredge describes as a man’s deep-down desire for “a battle to fight, an adventure to live, and a beauty to rescue.” What stirs within us is the memory of battles and adventures and rescues that we have lived out. Or what stirs within us is a thirst for what we wish we were like.

What does it mean to be made for more? It does not mean you were made for more stuff, not more power, not more money not more possessions. You were not born primarily for these things. Pastor John Stillman takes a deeper look into Psalm 122 to answer the question what were we made for.
